My passion for computer vision arose about 5 years ago when I used drones to automatically perform animal census for endangered species. I think that machine learning is often given a bad rap in society (the Terminator, anyone?). But, this initial exposure really opened my eyes to how technology can impact our world for the better. Since then, I’ve developed a smart hot water recirculation pump. a device that detects my robotics teammates that aren’t wearing safety glasses, and I’m working on tracking other robots with object detection.

In this project, I developed an automated skill assessment method for medical students learning to complete central venous catheterization.
